LES Meeting Feb. 24- Bob Allen

The Lorquin Entomological Society will be having its February meeting this Friday, February 24, 2012. The speaker will be Lorquin member Bob Allen. The topic will be The Wacky World of Pollination: Native Plants & the Critters that Love Them.

 Bob Allen grew up in San Juan Capistrano where he collected arthropods form a very early age. He began tagging monarch butterflies for Fred Urquhart at the age of 9. In high school, Bob started to nurture his interest in plants and continued to study both arthropods and plants in college.

Bob Allen received his B.S. in Environmental & Systematic Biology from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and a M.S. from California State University, Fullerton. He has published about 20 scientific papers and technical reports. Bob Allen also pursues his interest as a nature photographer, author, instructor, and consulting biologist. He has published his second book, A Field Guide to Wildflowers of Orange County and the Santa Ana Mountains Region, which should be out this
summer.
